Biography
Ryo Kamomiya is a Tokyo-born composer whose eclectic style bridges techno, Latin American rhythms, and vintage pop influences. He first came to prominence in 1984 as a member of the pioneering Japanese pop group Pizzicato Five.
Under the guidance of visionary producer Haruomi Hosono and CBS/Sony Records, he contributed to the band’s early sound and success.
Following the release of their seminal album Couples in 1987, he embarked on a solo career, refining his distinct musical voice. Today, Kamomiya composes for film, television, and recording artists, seamlessly blending genres with timeless sensibility.
His work continues to resonate with listeners across cultures, reflecting a deep appreciation for both tradition and innovation. His compositions have been widely embraced as background music in countless television programs, and for a time, his soundtracks could be heard daily on Japanese airwaves.
